Founder Alex Sarajian was an insurance adjuster and fraud investigator at Farmers Insurance Exchange, and senior trial lawyer Eduardo A. Brito spent about 20 years as insurance defense counsel. They know how insurers evaluate, challenge, and settle claims because they used to do it.
What is Colossus, and why does it matter for my claim?Colossus is software some insurance companies use to help value injury claims. It scores a claim based on the diagnoses, treatment, and billing codes in your medical records, so how those records are documented can change the number it produces. Alex Sarajian knows how these systems work and how insurers use them to justify low offers.
Do your attorneys understand the medical side of an injury case?Yes. Alex Sarajian has a working knowledge of medical billing and the diagnosis and procedure codes insurers rely on, and he lectures at chiropractic association events across Southern California. Julia Aparicio-Mercado has more than 20 years of civil litigation experience in state and federal court, and Vicken Sonentz Papazian has been a licensed California attorney since 1991, with a background in civil rights litigation and criminal defense.
What does “of counsel” mean?An of counsel attorney works closely with a firm on an ongoing basis without being a partner or associate. Our of counsel attorneys bring decades of their own courtroom experience: Julia Aparicio-Mercado has run her own litigation practice since 2009, and Vicken Sonentz Papazian practiced on his own for nearly 20 years before joining us in 2026.
Where were your attorneys educated?Alex Sarajian graduated with honors from USC and earned his law degree from Loyola Law School. Eduardo A. Brito earned both of his degrees at UCLA, where he was a judicial extern at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Julia Aparicio-Mercado earned her bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley and her law degree at Loyola Law School. Vicken Sonentz Papazian graduated from Bates College and Southwestern Law School and studied international law at the University of Florence.
Do you have attorneys who speak Spanish?Yes. Eduardo A. Brito is fluent in Spanish, and Julia Aparicio-Mercado is bilingual in written and spoken Spanish. Our office staff can also help Spanish-speaking clients from the first call. Hablamos español.

Brito is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and all four federal district courts in California, and he has represented clients in courts throughout Southern, Central, and Northern California. Julia Aparicio-Mercado is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
